With “Innovation and Tradition” as its central theme, Hotel Megatrends by Xenia 2019 makes a dynamic comeback to present itself even more sophisticated, giving solutions and inspiring the full range of visitors of the exhibition! At a time when all major tourism industry executives declare that the strategy of the tourist product should in the future focus on quality but also on the creation of experience rather than reaching a number of visitors in our country, Hotel Megatrends is contributing to this public debate on the evolution of Greek tourism, trying to highlight the ways in which key but necessary variables such as innovation and modern international practices can be combined, with our roots and tradition.

Hotel Megatrends/ Spaces:

In a highly sensual exhibition stand designed by Makridis Associates, five renowned architects and designers presented respectively five concepts of hosting spaces on a surface of 350 sq. m., placing architecture and design at the forefront as key creative tools on the ground of unforgettable experiences. The venues featured in this year’s project were the following:

01 – RECEPTION/ LOUNGE / by ALEX MINT DESIGN STUDIO

More than a reception area: In modern European cities, hotel Receptions are transformed into meeting, socialising, business and workplace spaces. Such a space is not only aimed at hotel guests but on the contrary, it is aimed at both residents and visitors of the city. In this way, the hotel is transformed into a living organisation, integrates with the lifestyle of the place and creates new business opportunities for the owner.

02 – BOUTIQUE ROOM / by SOTIRIS LAZOU DESIGN STUDIO

In search for our lost identity: At a time when boutique hotels have become a dynamic and evolving trend of our country’s big cities and beyond, we must realise that such a trend can reshape the identity of the urban fabric as well as this of tourism. Design plays a key role in this process. Strategically linking design with our roots and tradition is an extremely important process that will influence the unique experience of the visitor at the place they choose to visit.

03 – STUDIO ROOM / by Α & Μ ARCHITECTS

Designing “smart” hosting spaces: Innovative design can turn even a 28 sq. m. space into something great, able to accommodate, with all the amenities a home provides, up to 4 people, while meeting all their daily needs. The result not only leads to multiple functionality for the guests, but also to a wide use opportunity for investors. In such an urban building, both students and travellers who love the city centre can coexist and support only value for money solutions.

04 – RESTAURANT IN NATURE / by GIAN PAOLO VENIER

Perfect connection to nature: A restaurant in nature could only be made with natural materials. This restaurant, which is not clearly defined as indoor or outdoor since it can be both, is an absolute example of sustainable architecture based on natural building and decoration materials. Excellent aesthetics, natural shading, natural sound insulation and the definition of well-being.

05 – THE SMART EXPERIENCE / by L+DG LIGHTING ARCHITECTS

Lighting architecture creates unique experiences: Most of the time a hotelier entrepreneur treats lighting as the final stage of design and is often called upon to do so just before the hotel opening. Through a conceptual approach the message was clear. Lighting creates a special character in the venues and can often affect or inspire the overall design. This is exactly why architectural lighting belongs to the beginning of a study.
